Curling up with a good book and a brew….. hopefully that is something we will all find time to do over the festive season. Right now I can’t think of anything nicer (well, aside from the brew and book being on a white sandy beach…..) With this in mind we are thrilled to introduce you to our new range of book themed and literary teas from Tea Tubs. The teas are hand blended, natural, eco and kind. They are supplied in a cardboard tea tub, loose leaf, with a reusable cotton organic teabag inside for your convenience. The founder of Tea Tubs is Jules Button, a fellow indie bookseller who also trained as a Teasmith, therapist and herbologist who during lockdown decided to focus on her passion for teas. The company is fully vegan and eco conscious, the attention to detail lavished on their teas even goes as a far as ensuring the glue used in production of the cardboard tubs is vegan and sustainable. In some countries the serving of tea is ceremonious, none of this plastic leaden bags dipped in a mug, no thank you. Since receiving my samples of Tea Tubs I have made more of an effort in the morning for my first brew of the day. I’ve changed to a china cup (trust me, it makes SUCH a difference), I warm my cup on the Rayburn while the kettle brews and then I leave the leaves in a strainer suspended in the cup while I take the dogs out into the garden for their morning pee. Then I take myself out into the garden and have 5 minutes to my self and pour my tea, my own little tea ceremony. I was totally disgusted to learn (from my 16yo daughter – teenagers do have some uses) how much micro plastics we consume each week (enough to make a bank card is the average persons consumption, apparently… gulp) so I’m super happy that my morning brew is plastic free. If you don’t have a strainer the teas come with a Reusable Cotton Tea Bag included in the Tea Tub. This can be used if you do not have brewing equipment at home or you can fill the reusable tea bag and take it out with you! Once you have brewed your tea, just tip out the tea, wash and dry the bag and reuse again and again. Much better for the environment and your health.

Book Lovers’ Tea   (superior loose leaf breakfast tea English Blend of Ceylon OP, Assam  & Java Loose Leaf Black Tea )is a Long Leaf all day Breakfast Tea, based on the traditional Breakfast classic blend and can be consumed all day. It’s an old fashioned traditional recipe with select Ceylonese highland tea and superior Assam and Java leaf teas, blended together in a traditional manner. Thanks to its fine taste this blend is a perfect partner with your morning toast but is also ideally suited to Afternoon Tea and cake. Drink with a splash of milk or reduce brewing time and can be consumed black.  A smashing tea to drink anytime when you are reading a book. Drinking tea whilst reading a good book has been know to produce a euphoric state of mind!
